Confronting Fear with Samantha Jo Alonso
A self professed ‘professional life doer’, we first met the entrepreneur Samantha Jo Alonso when we interviewed her in Issue 1 of Magnify. Being a businesswoman in the worlds of fashion and fitness, as well as being a philanthropist, Samantha spoke to us in our Female Founders Instagram Live all about how we are more than enough and how on the other side of our fear is joy.
Fear that leads to joy
For most of us the thought of being afraid will lead us to not go down a certain path which in some cases may be the correct approach, for example crossing a busy road. However in some instances fear and success actually go hand in hand. It is because of this feeling that success can be fulfilling and why it can bring joy. When we feel this fear of what we feel called to do, we can put our trust in God and in the fact that he knows what lies ahead and has put this all in place to see you succeed.
Focus on who we are becoming
When we are going through our journey it can be so easy to just put all our attention on what needs to be done, what needs to happen and what you don’t have but we should instead focus on becoming who we are. When we go on the journey of becoming, it is then that our dreams may become reality. What has been placed in our hearts and what we feel called to, isn’t an accident but we can see it as something God has placed in us for a reason.
More than enough
With all the distraction in the world, we can sometimes fail to recognise that we are more than enough. There is only one you and what you bring to the table is valuable and nobody can strip that from you. Nobody can run your race better than you can.
New mountains to climb
When faced with challenges, our reaction is so important. In fact our reaction should be one of, this is a new mountain to climb and will build me to be stronger. You will come out better. During these difficult seasons we may not know when it will pass but we should be striving to stay faithful. These new mountains are there to not only build us up but also to bring these plans to life.
Spending time on ourselves
Staying focused on who we are, is something we can often forget or find hard to remember but it is a necessity. We need to learn to be by ourselves, we can do this by working out, listening to podcasts and serving others. Before we decide something lets ask ourselves ‘Am I only doing this so I don’t have to be alone with myself’. If we find the latter to be true, it is time for us to strip back and get back to the root of who we are and going back to what our purpose is.
Learn by Doing
Even if financial resources may be limited, we can still be creative. We can find ways to resource what we need, through our relationships and with what we already have. We have more than enough, we just need to be resourceful. In fact the less you have the more creative you can be and can become. If this is our purpose and calling, we need to remember it may take time, going through various seasons and maturity.
