How to be a voice of faith on Social Media: Nona Jones
We were privileged to speak to the Head of Faith Based Partnerships at Facebook, Nona Jones. She spoke to us about her journey of growing up through trauma as well as how she stepped out in faith when she left an amazing job with no idea of what was next, to then receiving a call and job from Facebook. Keep reading to see some highlights from the conversation and make sure you listen to the full episode to hear her full story.
Success and Fulfilment
For most of us the idea that being successful means being fulfilled, is a thought process we can often cling to. However it is actually the opposite that is the truth. No level of success is going to be able to fulfil a deficit that is within us. We need to therefore be reminding ourselves daily that we are worthy no matter what our resumes may or may not say.
‘There is nothing you can accumulate around you that will fulfil a deficit within you.’
Intentional Priorities
As ambitious women during different seasons what we prioritise may be different and it can often feel like we are juggling a million and one things both in our working and personal lives. In order to be authentic and true to those closest to us, we should be looking at the persona we are creating for ourselves and ask ourselves would those closest to us recognise this. Another question we may need to ponder when it comes to juggling where we spend our time is ‘what do I need to take off my plate that is not serving my purpose?’.
Faith unpacked
Faith - a word most of us are familiar with and many even consider to have but what does it actually mean? One way many of us may interpret this word is by thinking it is something that by our ability will enable God to do something for us. This thought process is a lie as in actual fact if we believe God can do anything, then having faith is trusting and obeying what God has in for us even when we don’t understand.
‘Everything works out in the end.’
Created Intentionally
There will be things we go through in life that may be traumatic and hurt us. This truth does not invalidate the truth that we have been created purposefully and intentionally. Where our thoughts and thinking patterns go in regards to our worth and where we are placing our hope is up to us. This is why it is crucial that we surround ourselves with things and people taught speak truth and life to us.
