Don’t Give Up with Ife Durosinmi-Etti
Ife Durosinmi-Etti is the founder of AGSTribe, a platform that connects women and opportunities. But not only does she run this but she also runs other businesses as well as being a mother and a wife. We got to chat with her on our Female Founders Instagram Live all about how she balances it and how she deals with failure. Below are some of the key takeaways from the discussion.
A Balancing Act
From a young age we are fed with this idea that we need to balance every area of our lives. When in actual fact it is that pressure that can put us off actually achieving. We need to learn to take each day as it comes, and embrace that the priorities of each day may change and that is okay. It can also be helpful to talk to older women and learn from their wisdom as well as to help us remember that we aren’t lacking anything. There is no challenge we are going through that another woman hasn’t gone through.
‘Your time will come if you are persistent and consistent.’
A Time For Everyone
We have all been guilty of comparing our journey with someone else’s and feeling inadequate. However we need to remind ourselves that we each have a different purpose and just because someone else seems to be achieving more than you, that doesn’t invalidate who we are and the importance of our purpose. It's important to recognise that everybody has been born with different privileges. Everybody goes through seasons where things are succeeding and we will all also go through seasons where we will fail. Life is going to happen regardless of who we are so it's important that we don’t look at other people as the measure for our success.
Don’t be afraid to fail
We will all fail. That may seem like a harsh truth but it can actually be quite freeing to recognise. It is part of the process and journey we are on. It's how we approach failure that is crucial, if we approach as something to learn from that is when you will find success. We have to be able to fail in order to push forward. It is through the challenges that we will find our strength.
‘Understand that there are times and seasons for everyone.’
Pivot and Adapt
When needing to make difficult business decisions we should ensure that we discuss them with our team as this will help them understand the challenges and the impact it may be having on the running on the business. It's during seasons that are out of our control that we can actually pivot and start developing things that we weren’t before. Sometimes we will need to let go of the things we held tightly for our business beforehand and use scenarios that are out of our control to adapt and expand.
