When pursuing your vision is challenging, hold fast to these three things
Realising your vision and bringing it to fruition is hard. Whether it is insecurity, busyness or simply a lack of motivation that is holding you back, here are three helpful reminders to keep you on track to achieving your vision.
1. Never underestimate what God has placed in your hands right now. You have what you need to keep going.
Exodus 4:12
‘Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.’
Remind yourself daily that God has placed this project, this task, this job into your hands. He has equipped you with all that you need to achieve what He has planned. When you underestimate what He has given, you might lack gratitude and not pursue your vision with the passion it deserves. Meditate on the tools that He has given you - perhaps it is your surrounding community, your gifts or your workspace. Use what He has blessed you with to work towards your goals. He never gives you more than you can handle. Do your daily tasks with confidence and joy knowing that God has fully equipped you to achieve His plan. Take heart in challenging times, you will grow from being tested and will be able to even more as you continue.
‘He has equipped you with all that you need.’
2. Trust God. He has promised to bring your good works to ‘perfect completion’.
Philippians 1:6
‘...He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’
When work starts piling up and things feel unmanageable, it’s easy to feel out of control. Doubt might start to seep into your mind and lead you to believe that you are not able to fulfil the vision you’re working towards. This is common in a busy and competitive world.
Try taking some time off social media and re-centering through prayer focusing on God and His faithfulness. Remember that God has had a plan for your life since before the world was created. Ephesians 1:4 says: ‘For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world.’ God promises to bring your good works into ‘perfect completion.’ He is faithful and His promises are guaranteed. Rest knowing that He is working alongside you.
‘You are where you are for a reason.’
3. Even though it may seem daunting, remember that you were born to lead in your sphere of influence.
Esther 4:14
‘And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?’
You are where you are for a reason. Do not allow yourself to believe you don’t deserve to be where you are, or that your voice is not valid. Just as God placed Esther in the Persian kingdom to pursue His vision for her life, and her people, God has secured you this place. He has put you in your sphere of influence to do what He has planned. This gives immense value to you and your work that no-one can take away. Allow this truth to motivate you and keep you on track to fulfilling your vision. Look to Jesus to help you be a gracious leader, just as he was, and continue working towards what you set out to do.
