Don’t wait for the moment

For some of us, we may have had a ‘lightbulb’ moment of what our purpose and gift is but for others, it may actually be the act of stepping out that we will then discover where and what we should be doing. Sometimes it takes taking that step out in obedience to understand our calling. That obedience is following what we have been called to do and understanding that our purpose is bigger than ourselves and we will be able to accomplish it.

‘If you can’t find your purpose, start by finding a problem and find the solution.’

Following the convictions on our hearts

For those working in creative fields, sometimes the greatest challenges can be trying to articulate what is in our minds in order for those around us to be able to understand it. However it's important to remember that when we have a conviction of something, we need to follow through and we need to remind ourselves that sticking with it is worth it. If we have our foundations in who we are, our worth of ourselves and our ideas won't be based on what other people's opinions.

Putting the blinders on

When we know our purpose and act upon it, we need to keep firm in knowing who we are and put those blinders on. We need to not focus on the opinions or validation of those around us but instead keep focused and recognise why we are doing what we are doing. If we have been called to do something, we need to let go of controlling the outcomes it will bring and instead focus on what we have been called to do and trust it will reach who it needs to.

‘I’ve realised it’s best to be slow to speak and quick to listen.’

We all have a platform

Every one of us has been given a platform, whether that be at a micro-level with the people we live and work alongside or platforms in media and worldwide. We need to know when it is our time to speak up and we can’t just be vocal for a performance based bit but because it is the desire in our hearts and we want people to hear. Where we are isn't an accident and therefore if we have something to share, we need to, as it has been given to us for a reason.
